News Around the NHL: Rangers Win, Boston Injury Issues, Price wins Masterson

The New York Rangers take a 2-0 lead after defeating Tampa Bay 3-2 yesterday. The Rangers received tallies from Kaapo Kakko, K'Andre Miller, and Mika Zibanejad. Goaltender Igor Shesterkin was phenomenal again; he stopped 29 of 31 shots.


The Boston Bruins are in trouble! A trio of Bruins defencemen has undergone surgeries and to miss an extensive amount of time. Charlie McAvoy, Boston's top d-man, will miss at least six months after completing shoulder surgery. Partner Matt Grzelyck will be out until early November after completing a successful surgery. Mike Reilly will also be out three months after ankle surgery. Also, keep in mind that forward Brad Marchand will miss six months after completing surgery on both hips. 




Carey Price wins The Masterson Trophy. The award is given to the player that best represents qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to the game. Perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication are three words that describe Montreal Canadiens goalie Carey Price. The former Vezina winning tendy missed most of the 2021-2022 season due to mental health issues. Price would return late in the season to play five games with the Habs.
