White Sox's Invite Top Prospect Colson Montgomery to Spring Training + Others

The Chicago White Sox have announced that they have invited 17 prospects in their low-minor league systems to MLB Spring Training on non-roster contracts.  Players : Moises Castillo Luis Mieses Declan Cronin Colson Montgomery Oscar Colas Yoelqui Cespedes Zach Remillard Evan Skoug Andrew Perez Edgar Navarro Adam Hackenberg Matthew Thompson Sammy Peralta Sean Burke Lane Ramsey Fraser Ellard Amongst the names includes Chicago's #1 ranked prospect, shortstop Colson Montgomery. The 2022 first-round pick was recently ranked the 39th best prospect by Baseball America for the upcoming 2023 season. Montgomery looks to gain experience from a successful start playing in a mixture of A, A+, and AA ball last season. Spring Training is just around the corner as pitchers and catchers are set to report in February.

CONFIRMED: Canucks' Sign Andrei Kuzmenko to a Two-Year Extension

Canucks' GM, Patrik Allvin announced today that the team has reached an agreement with a contract extension for Andrei Kuzmenko. The Russian forward will be sticking around for another two seasons, after both parties agreed to a two-year deal, worth $11,000,000. Kuzmenko is among the points leaders on the team as he currently sits with 21 goals and 22 assists in 47 games.

Leafs' Place Dryden Hunt on Waivers

The Toronto Maple Leafs have announced that they have placed forward Dryden Hunt on waivers today. Hunt has played in nine games this season for the Maple Leafs after being traded from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for Denis Malgin. Hunt has struggled to remain in the Leafs' lineup throughout his short stint. The British Columbia native has suited up for nine games for Toronto, recording a single goal. Last year, Hunt was a solid fourth-line energy player, scoring 17 points in 76 games.   Hunt has minimal effect on the cap hit as he is in the second year of a two-year deal with a $762,500 cap hit.

Sens' Assign Jacob Bernard-Docker to Belleville (AHL)

The Ottawa Senators have announced that they have sent down 22-year-old, defensive prospect, Jacob Bernard-Docker down to Belleville of the American Hockey League.  The former first-round selection of the Sens back in the 2018 NHL Draft, has seen a considerable amount of ice-time this season playing alongside Thomas Chabot. The defensemen has played in a total of 17 games this season with the Sens, notching just a single assist. Bernard-Docker is among the top prospects within the Ottawa organization and has played in a career 26 NHL games. It is likely that the Sens' call the youngster back up prior to their upcoming game on Wednesday, due to the injuries to Artem Zub and Nikita Zaitsev.

Sweden's Fabian Lysell Ejected From Bronze Medal Game

Boston Bruins prospect and member of Team Sweden Fabian Lysell has been ejected from the bronze medal game against Sweden after a dangerous check to the head. Lysell attempted to apply pressure and body-contact on American forward Kenny Connors in the offensive zone, 30 seconds into his first shift. Lysell unfortunately got his shoulder up and hit the American forward straight in the head. Lysell was quickly ushered off the ice and picked up a five-minute major on the play. Flyers' Bobby Brink Returns from Injury, Loaned to AHL

The Philadelphia Flyers have announced that they have assigned forward Bobby Brink to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the AHL on a conditioning stint. The move comes after the Flyers activate their winger off of injured reserve. Last season, the 21-year-old youngster was injured and underwent offseason hip surgery, which caused him to miss the first half of the season.
