The Washington Nationals have announced that they have DFA'ed shortstop Jeter Downs as they look to open up spots on their 40-man roster. The move was the corresponding result of the Nats' signing both Dylan Floro and Nick Senzel, both to one-year deals.
Downs, a former Top-100 prospect arrived in Washington after he was designated for assignment by the Boston Red Sox.
The former top prospect played in only six games for the Nationals last season. Downs finished the 2023 season with a .600 batting average in five at-bats.
