A Guide to Dans Ločmelis of the Boston Bruins

Dans Ločmelis is a Latvian-born centerman who was drafted 119th overall by the Boston Bruins during the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. Ločmelis currently plays in the Lulea HF system and will return to Sweden for the upcoming 2021-22 season.

This year, playing in the J18 and J20 leagues in Sweden, Ločmelis excelled. The Latvian native started the season playing in the J18. He played a short stint of five games, while scoring two goals and four assists. Shortly after, he was called up to the J20 league, where he would spend most of the season. Ločmelis played a total of 44 games, scoring 18 goals and assisting 16 times. Late in the season, the centermen even got the opportunity to suit up for two SHL games. Although he wasn't able to record a point, in a low-playing time role.

Ločmelis has also represented his home country of Latvia at all of the IIHF junior events. For example, while playing in the top-division U18 tournament, Ločmelis played in four games, recording three points. And in the second-division World Juniors tournament, he scored a goal in five games.

Ločmelis is described as a smart, responsible hockey player. Although he isn't elite offensively, his defensive game shows talent. He is a good skater, with great edge work. He scans the ice to make the correct play while also making the responsible play. He backchecks hard and gets his stick in the passing lane, although his most recognisable attribute is his work ethic.
