Bruins Sign Bergeron to One-Year Contract

The Boston Bruins have signed captain Patrice Bergeron to a one-year contract. Bergeron's contract will have a $2.5M base salary, along with $2.5M in incentives.

The Bruins are coming off a defeat to the Carolina Hurricanes during the first-round. Reports rumored Bergeron would retire, but that was not the case.

The Boston captain is the reigning Selke Trophy winner, an award given to the best defensive forward. Over his career, Patrice has spent all of his time in Boston. Bergeron has logged in over 1200+ games and has scored 400 goals and 582 assists.

Boston originally selected their captain with the 45th pick of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. Bergeron will center Boston's first-line once again this season.

More details to come.
