It's Cayden Primeau's Time to Shine in Montreal

Cayden Primeau is regarded as the top goaltending prospect in the Montreal Canadiens organization. The American netminder spent most of the past season playing in the AHL for the Laval Rocket. But, due to the fact that Carey Price will not return this season, The Habs' net is destined for the young netminder Primeau.

After making his NHL debut during the 2019-2020 season, Primeau was once regarded as the next netminder for the Montreal Canadiens. Although he has struggled at the NHL level ever since, Montreal management has been impressed by the youngster's development in the AHL.

Last season, Primeau spent the majority of the season playing in the AHL. He suited up for 33 AHL games, recording a 2.94 goals-against-average and a.909 save percentage. But, what caught most eyes was Primeau's stellar postseason performance. The Michigan native had a.936 save percentage and a 2.17 goals-against-average in 14 playoff games.

Primeau will battle for playing time with fellow netminders Jake Allen and Samuel Montembeault. It is likely that Primeau will get every opportunity to win an NHL position and, if not, start the season in the AHL.

Throughout his short NHL career, the netminder has had a 4.21 goals-against-average and a.874 save percentage. Primeau was a former seventh round pick by the Habs during the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.

Primeau was decorated as one of the top junior goaltenders, as he has a wide resume of awards. Primeau won a gold medal at the U18's and a silver at the U20's, representing Team USA, while also being named Rookie Goaltender of the Year in the AHL and Goalie of the Year in the NCAA.

The Habs will look for there 23-year-old prospect to take the next step to the NHL level, this upcoming season.
