The Key Points from Montreal's Preseason Game vs NJ

Yes, at last Habs hockey is back! The Montreal Canadiens took on the New Jersey Devils for their first preseason game. Unfortunately, for the Habs they would give up a late third period goal, and eventually fall, 2-1.

Lineup:

Skaters: Caufield, Hoffman, Matheson, Dach, Slafkovsky, Beck, Pitlick, Pezzetta, Mesar, Harvey-Pinard, Fairbrother, Guhle, Barron, Roy, Richard, Harris, Mysak, Norlinder

Goaltenders: Jake Allen, Cayden Primeau

Caufield Shows off Electric Shot

Yes, Cole Caufield is back! The former first-round pick, showed off his electric shot once again, one-timing a power play goal to give Montreal an early lead.

Caufield will be one of the most important players on a fairly young, yet talented Montreal roster. The Wisconsin native, capped off his rookie season with 23 goals and 20 assists in 67 games. Down the stretch, the Habs will look to their shooting specialist to create offense and get them on the board.

Jake Allen looks sharp

Jake Allen will take the reigns as the starting goaltender for the Montreal Canadiens. Allen got the start for the preseason game, and played 40 minutes, before handing the crease off to Cayden Primeau.

Allen was very sharp in his 40 minutes of play, not allowing a single-goal. The Fredericton native, made 18 saves. Unfortunately, for Allen he did receive some contact from Devils' forward Tomas Tatar, as the Czech forward plowed into the Habs netminder. Luckily, for Allen he exited the situation unharmed.
