Murray's Injury Opens the Door for Ilya Samsonov (Murray to LTIR)

It is noted that goaltender, Matt Murray will be out at least four weeks, with an adductor injury. Murray was placed on LTIR, and the Leafs have called-up Erik Kallgren from the AHL. The Leafs started the season, without a clear cut #1 goaltender, but now it's Samsonov's time to shine.

Samsonov entered opening night serving as the backup goaltender, to Matt Murray. Throughout, preseason the Russian netminder, was solid, but showed glimpses of poor execution and errors.

It is expected that Samsonov will play the brink of the games, as it is rumored that Erik Kallgren was dealing with

a minor-injury. Kallgren was injured during his season opener with the Toronto Marlies during the second period, he did not return.

Throughout two starts this season, Samsonov has been solid between the pipes. The 25-year-old, has a 2-0-0 record, a .926 save percentage and a 2.00 goals-against-average.
