2021-22 NHL Season Review: Anaheim Ducks

The Anaheim Ducks are in the midst of a rebuild. Although this past season, the squad has shown significant progression. The Ducks finished second last in the Pacific Division with a 31-37-14 record, although many players showed signs of past expectations. For example, Troy Terry.

Top Forward
: Troy Terry

Troy Terry arguably had one of the best breakout seasons in the entire NHL. The former fifth-round pick was touted as a highly skilled forward. Terry debuted during the 2017-18 season and wasn't able to post a 20+ points season till this year.

The 24-year-old played 75 games on the Ducks' top line and scored 37 goals and 30 assists, leading the team in goals and points. He was also selected to represent Anaheim at the All-Star game, his first appearance.

Terry is in the midst of a three-year contract, worth an AAV of $1.45M, ending after the 2022-23 season. If he continues his production, he will likely see a massive pay increase by Anaheim or around the league.

Top Defensemen: Cam Fowler

Cam Fowler has been an essential piece in the Ducks organization since he was drafted 12th overall by the team. The new assistant captain leads the Ducks d-man in ice time and is a mentor to Ducks rookie Jamie Drysdale.

This season Fowler played in 76 games, scoring nine goals and 33 assists, leading all Ducks d-man in points and goals. The Windsor native also had a productive defensive season.

Top Goaltender: John Gibson

The Ducks' #1 goaltender has been in the media recently due to his strong urges of wanting to win and make the playoffs. Something that the Ducks weren't able to do the past few years.

Gibson had one of the poorest seasons of his NHL career. The former all-star goalie played in 56 games this season. He had a 3.19 GAA, along with a 90% save percentage, and just one shutout.

Gibson is an interesting piece for the Anaheim Ducks as he may be on the trade block this summer. He is set to turn 29 this summer; if the Ducks were to move him they would get a massive return.
