How Shea Theodore FELL to The Vegas Golden Knights

Shea Theodore is known as one of the top defencemen in the entire National Hockey League. But did you know that Shea Theodore was once an Anaheim Duck? Fun Fact, the Ducks drafted Theodore 26th overall during the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

The Langley native played junior hockey for the Seattle Thunderbirds in the WHL. In his final season, Theodore scored 48 points in 43 games. He was scouted as a two-way defenceman with elite-offensive skill.
The 2015-16 season would be Theodore's first pro season. He would report to the San Diego Gulls (AHL affiliate of the Ducks) and play 50 games. He would also make his NHL debut season and score his first NHL goal. Theodore played 19 games with the Ducks, recording five points.
The following season Theodore would split time in the AHL and NHL. He finished the season playing 34 NHL games and 26 AHL games.

The Ducks ended up trading Shea Theodore to Vegas for future considerations. Why would they trade a first-round pick for basically nothing? Well, the conditions of the trade included Vegas selecting Clayton Stoner and not fan-favorite Josh Manson.
How has Theodore faired with Vegas ever since? Theodore's play has made this deal to Vegas look silly. The youngster has played over 300 games with the Knights, quarterbacking Vegas' powerplay. Theodore has a career of 223 points, including 58 goals. In conclusion, Theodore really did fall into Vegas' lap!
