MLB Game Recap: A's at Guardians (6/12/22)

The Cleveland Guardians have defeated Oakland, 6-3 today. The Guardians now sit in second in the Central Division, while Oakland sits in last.


Batting:

Ramon Laureano got Oakland on the board early, blasting a solo home run to left field. Ramon's second home run of the season gave the Athletics' an early 1-0 lead.

Jose Ramirez would tie the game right back up the following inning. He would double and bring in Amed Rosario and Myles Straw. Owen Miller would drive in Ramirez later with a single to center field. Cleveland took a 3-1 lead after the first inning.

Amed Rosario would add to Cleveland's lead, doubling and driving in Myles Straw. Josh Naylor would single-driving in Rosario during the sixth inning.

During the seventh, Jose Ramirez would drive in catcher Austin Hedges after reaching on an error. Cleveland took a 6-1 lead going into the eighth.

Oakland's Christian Bethancourt and Seth Brown would both hit solo home runs narrowing the lead.

Pitching:

Cal Quantrill got the hill first for Cleveland, pitching six solid innings. The Canadian allowed just one run in four hits while striking out four. Bryan Shaw pitched a scoreless seventh inning, while Trevor Stephan struggled during the eighth (giving up two runs). Emmanuel Clase would record his 11th save of the season, allowing just one hit.

Cole Irvin allowed five runs in 5.66 innings for the A's, allowing six hits. Austin Pruitt would be brought in and recorded one out. Adam Oller would pitch the seventh and eighth inning, allowing one run on four hits.
