Will Jack Studnicka Perform with the Vancouver Canucks?

The Vancouver Canucks acquired forward Jack Studnicka from the Boston Bruins in exchange for Michael DiPietro and Jonathan Myrenberg. Studnicka is a 23-year-old centerman who was a former second-round pick by the Bruins during the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.

Studnicka will have every opportunity to perform with his new team. With the injuries to Brock Boeser and Curtis Lazar, Studnicka is expected to join the team as soon as possible. The 23-year-old is waivers eligible, meaning he would have to be placed on league waivers prior to being sent down to the AHL.

The Windsor native has found success at the AHL level, but has yet to translate his play to the NHL level. When Studnicka competed against the likes of Patrice Bergeron, David Krejci, and Charlie Coyle in Boston, the youngster was left playing very few minutes a night.

There is no doubt that Studnicka is a dedicated player who wants to continue to grow in his game. Early on in his pro career, the Bruins notified Studnicka that they would like him to gain strength during the offseason. The center added 14 pounds of muscle during the summer of 2021.

In a span of four seasons, Studnicka has suited up for a total of 38 NHL games. The righty notched a goal and six assists during his time with the Bruins. This season, Studnicka has suited up for one game but recorded four penalty minutes and a -1 rating.

It is expected that Studnicka sees a higher role with the struggling Vancouver Canucks. There is every opportunity for the Canucks to take Studnicka's game to the next level.
